Along with the Greenhouse Gas Mitigation Program demonstration projects in place, a number of communications tools have been developed to increase producer awareness about nutrient management and greenhouse gas mitigation. They include:

Environmental Management Guidebook
Among the first projects funded by the CPC through the Greenhouse Gas Mitigation Program was a Guidebook for Environmental Management in the Hog Industry. The Guidebook provides a starting point for the scientific and economic analysis of environmental management practices and technologies available to Canadian producers.

Educational video for greenhouse gas management in the Canadian hog sector
Video footage from site visits conducted across the country is compiled into a 30-minute video outlining the greenhouse gas story for the Canadian pork sector. To find out more, please contact your provincial pork industry association, or the Canadian Pork Council.

Articles submitted to pork sector publications
A number of articles were written to create awareness about the benefits of using greenhouse gas mitigating practices on farms. They were seen in a variety of publications relevant to the hog industry, including Better Pork, Canadian Meat Business Magazine, Farm Focus, Manure Manager, Manure Matters, Prairie Hog Country, Porc Québec, Top Crop Manager, and the Western Hog Journal.
