Gabriela Guigou
Manager of the Swine Health Initiative
Gabriela Guigou is a molecular biologist and manager of the Swine Health Initiative at the Canadian Pork Council where she works on key animal health challenges of concern to pork producers.
Her role is to ensure important issues such as disease surveillance, biosecurity or antimicrobial resistance are tackled, and a national strategic plan is in place.
She offers support to the CPC’s Swine Health Advisory Committee, The Code of Practice for the Care and Handling of Pigs Review Committee and sits on the Canadian Animal Health Products Regulatory Advisory Committee. She is also responsible for overseeing the work of the Canadian Swine Health Intelligence Network (CSHIN).
Gabriela grew up on her family’s farm in Uruguay but has spent all her professional career working for Canadian agriculture. Gabriela, along with her husband and two children live in Manotick, a small community south of Ottawa, Ontario.
